How Has Band Improved My Life

Charlie L

Band has improved my life in so many ways. Playing clarinet has been so helpful in boosting my confidence, practically learning another language, and seeing that I am talented in a unique way that many people cannot do. Playing an instrument takes time, patience, and devotion. I have to take a couple minutes a day to practice. Band has also helped me make so many more memories with my friends and really, family. I think it is a great way to expand your brain power and an awesome hobby.

One memory that really told me that I liked this, was the first time I could strongly play a song called Jingle Bells. I was really proud of myself for working hard and finally accomplishing it. It made me feel really good because I knew I had done something big for my brain and something good for my feelings. My teacher, Mr. Lotterbock has helped me so much in growing with my clarinet. We usually practice on Wednesday, ever since I started band, it has been my favorite day of the week. It is my favorite day because I can come after school and put my talent to very good use. Last band practice, Mr. Lotterbock wasn’t there so my school music teacher helped out. One of the songs that I was stuck on was called snake charmer. I asked questions and gradually got better. This simple song has improved my life and music skills.

Now I’m going to talk about how my friends have helped me. A couple days ago, my friend Ben who plays trumpet started to help me with what I was struggling with. I am very thankful for this because now I can play the song confidently and strongly. So in my band there are 2 clarinets and 2 trumpets. The other clarinet player is named Cici. She is an awesome friend and has helped me so much with my clarinet. Other than Ben, there is Simon playing trumpet. He is also helpful in making sure everyone has the right things for their instruments. If you need oil or a little screw driver, he’s got you. This improves my trust and friendship with them. I hope to stay in band for a long time. I love it!
